Made these for a camping tip, used 2 small Hawaiian buns per person, cut the block of halloumi into 8 slices, browned up perfectly in butter, then fried up some over easy eggs, slathered on some Mayo+Franks RedHot. The cheese is salty and has a good mouthfeel with the egg and bread. Added this one to my camping recipe book! Thank you. Also made the Campfire Apple Crisp-Fresh OffThe Grid for the win!5 stars

Excellent question! The best priced halloumi we’ve found is at Trader Joe’s. But it’s a seasonal item, so they tend to only stock it during the summer “grilling” season. For a year-round supply, we’ve seen consistently stocked at Whole Foods, but it’s much more expensive.

Used it on my camping trip this past weekend with my friend. She would have just had a bowl of cereal to start the day. But it gave me something to do, as she likes sleeping in and I like getting up and at it. What I loved – not needing a plate and utensils, the flavoured mayo, fried cheese…what? (not so much of a foodie that I had heard of Halloumi!) toasted, not plain, bun, green onion that I had cut up beforehand, egg with broken yolk so it didn’t drip down my front! Mmm Mmm. Thanks for that from a camper in BC (o:
p.s. did it again for my husband when I got home. He loved it to, so it’s going in the camping file!

Good call! I believe that the Trader Joe’s brand sriracha sauce is also non-GMO. Haven’t tried it myself, but it might be worth looking into!
