I think a lot depends on your personal hiking ability and speed. There is a lot of elevation change along between Little Harbor and Avalon, but if you’re a strong hiker and have been able to hike at a fast clip leading up to your hike, it’s probably possible but I imagine it would be challenging.

I’m about to do the trail this weekend and we are doing first day to Little harbor, and then trying to go all the way to Avalon in the second day. Do you think it’s possible?

Ian, I’m so happy to hear that this helped with your itinerary planning. Agreed, it can be a bit daunting since there are only so many places to camp on the trail. It’s a great trip for those new to backpacking – hope you have (had?) a great time! -M

I was overwhelmed trying to figure out an itinerary on my own. Thanks also for the vegan recommendations for backpacking food. Great recommendations and thorough instructions. I’m new to backpacking and really appreciate your help.

It was such a great experience. We hope to do it again sometime with some friends. It’s the perfect introduction thru-hike. Still challenging, just not as long as many of the others.

I had the chance to do the TCT last spring (it wasn’t quite as green!)and loved it but agree that it was quite challenging! http://adventuretramp.com/2019/11/20/trans-catalina-island/
